I just hope to live long enough to reclaim part of the time that I wasted as a young man. I have this urgency that has instilled itself in me now that I have realized that I’m not immortal and just how quickly life passes.
My inculcation’s of this principle to my children and the young people that I know probably won’t take root until they’re my age. Funny how that works.
Perhaps I should save my breath… I have so few left. : )
Love the story that accompanies your photo Ian. Would like to think that I am quite hopeful myself. That things could be better and that I can make a better life for myself. Sometimes working hard and from your heart doesn’t always get you there but here’s to hoping! =D
HOPE!!! LOVE what you wrote…I’m an "old" lady in numbers only…hehehe…I hope everyday…I still have hope! what is life without hope, everyday for something better? anyway Great photo & I love the "mood" you captured I can "feel" this guy…I think you know what I mean when I say that…It’s a very good thing!
I think what makes it extra special is that you took the time to talk with this young man. I’m sure a lot of people just walked by him and didn’t give him a second look. I bet it meant a lot to him to have a chat with someone in their’ middle years’ that was interested in him.
Ahhh, but it’s the "twilight of your experience" that gave you vision to see him, photograph him so well, write so well about him, and above all the graciousness to take interest in him! You are a good "tude!"
Great focus work here, leading from the background blur to the sharpness of his jacket. It was the words you wrote that give this the real depth though. Hope keeps me going too!
I’m not sure which is more beautiful, your photo, or what you wrote about it. Both are stunning and come from a great place in your heart! Man, I really need to visit Portland, you’re shedding light on all of its beauty.
