Learning how to play songs on your own guitar is gratifying and will become pain-free once you master a few of the fundamentals. I am not going to lie to you and tell you will end up jamming like Eric Clapton or BB King (or whoever rocks your boat) in a week or two. Having said that, with the proper instructions, and a little dedication, you could be playing along with your favorite guitar tunes in no time.
What It Takes
First, the commitment part. Just as most other things in life, you get out of it what you put into it. That said, 30 minutes every day will send you well on the proper path to playing songs on guitar. You’ll be stunned at how quickly your abilities can increase in merely thirty minutes a day! Naturally, more is better, but everyone has busy lifestyles. I prefer to consider it as being time wisely spent!
Finding the Right Instruction
Practically nothing can beat good one-on-one personal training for learning how to play songs on the guitar. But locating a good instructor who you like working with might be difficult and also expensive. The actual hourly rate in my community is about .00! For those who have the money to do it, fantastic! Just make sure you are gonna enjoy the experience. I have discovered that picking the wrong instructor may spoil the experience. Be sure you each are on the same page (i.e. you want to learn to perform songs on guitar, he or she wants you to learn music theory). Other points to think about are just how far a particular training program can take you. Do they offer intermediate, as well as, advanced training? Do they provide training in various styles (i.e. blues, rock, jazz, country, etc.)?
